水袖功是湘剧借助服饰表演技艺的一种。

Water sleevesperformance is askill of using costumesto convey various emotions of the character in Hunan opera.

“水袖”是戏曲服装袖端所缀白绸，因其甩动时形似水波而得名。水袖是对古代服饰衣袖的夸张展现，是戏装的重要组成部分。戏曲舞台上演员可以利用水袖的舞动来表现剧中人物的身份、性格与感情，增加人物的美感。

Water sleevesare long white silk cloth attached to the cuffs of traditional opera costumes, named for their resemblance to rippling water when waved. Water sleeves isan exaggerated display of ancient garment sleeves and an integral part of traditional opera costumes. On thestage, the performersutilize the movements of water sleevesto portray the identities, personalities, and emotions of the characters, thereby enhancing their aesthetic appeal.
